Greater Trochanteric Bursitis

I have been told, on various occasions, that I bursitis to some degree. It is a bruise-like feeling when I press on the greater trochanter. It has, within the past week, become more pronounced on my op side, to where I can feel pain and discomfort in the area most of the time, and cannot really lay on that side. I swear, by the way, that it sticks out farther on my op side than my non-op side. Is this even possible? I am pretty sure that the bursitis is brought on by my recent spinning classes. According to the information I found on Wikipedia, there are many possible causes. Some include uneven leg length, iliotibial band syndrome, and weakness of the hip abductor muscles. I will see if rest works, then explore other options.
